In my work as a Family Physician,
I've cared for thousands of patients,
including hundreds of children,
from newborns to adolescents.
Although I've been writing for years,
it wasn't until I became an aunt
and later a great-aunt
that I started writing children's stories.
​
My profession was very demanding,
and although I've had several
completed stories,
I've not had time to publish them.
Now that I'm retired,
that has changed, with the publishing
of my first book,
and its Spanish edition.
​
I hope that my unique perspective
as a Family Physician, an aunt,
and a great-aunt,
has given me the insight
to write children's stories
that are fun and captivating,
but also educational,
and woven with life lessons.​

Going From No and Frowning
to Yes and Smiling:
How 'Nellie Minus' Became 'Nellie Plus'
Nellie is a very grouchy
and negative little girl.
She hardly ever smiles;
and the first word
out of her mouth is always ‘No’.
But after her brother
gets angry with her
for being so negative,
and starts calling her
‘Nellie Minus’,
Nellie decides she will try to change.
​
Over the next week,
she surprises herself
with her positivity,
and finally decides
she will become "Nellie Plus".​​​​​
De Enojada a Sonriente:
Como 'Nely Negativa' se Convirtió
en 'Nely Positiva'
Nely es una niña muy negativa,
y siempre está de mal humor.
Casi nunca sonríe, y
su primera respuesta a todo es 'No.
Pero después de que su hermano
se enoja con ella,
y comienza a llamarla 'Nely Negativa',
Nely decide que tratará de cambiar. Durante la próxima semana,
Nely se sorprende con su positividad,

I translated it into Spanish,
with 'Nely' (Spanish Edition)

About the Author
Writing
is my passion
Ada M. Marin is a Family Physician, who has been writing since she was a child. She grew up in New Jersey, and moved to California for her Family Medicine Residency, and stayed.
After 40 years of practice, she recently retired from her successful Family Medicine practice, where she cared for everyone, from newborns
to 100-year old patients .
​
She is married, and enjoys writing, photography, travel, and genealogy.
But most importantly,
she loves being an aunt
and a great-aunt
to nieces & nephews,
great nieces & great nephews,
for whom she writes stories, poems, and word-search puzzles.
